Solar Thermal

Solar Thermal is a well-established renewable technology that uses direct heat from solar radiation to heat an absorbent fluid which is circulated onwards transferring its heat for use in hot water systems.
Solar Thermal installations have been a popular choice throughout the UK for many years, with systems capable of delivering significant hot water results. Solar Thermal has always offered a financially viable and sustainable alternative to standard hot water heating. However with the government set to provide additional financial incentives, investors will be able to reap the rewards from reduced energy bills and legislative backed financial tariffs.
The Renewable Heat Incentive or RHI provide customers a long term financial pack for all Solar Thermal investments installed by and using products accredited by the Microgeneration Certification Scheme.
Solar Thermal offers a simple and affordable solution for a wide variety of new build and retro-fit applications, both on roof and ground mounted. Evacuated Tube panels offer almost perfect insulation, whereas Flat Plate panel aren’t as efficient per square meter, although they are more aesthetically pleasing and slightly cheaper.
During summer months there is very little difference in performance between the Evacuated or Flat Plate panels, however during winter months evacuated tubes will slightly outperform Flat Plate collectors. Some customers prefer the look of Flat Plate panels, although Evacuated Tubes are the most efficient.
With solar gain still achievable on a cloudy day, Solar Thermal is worthy of serious consideration.
