Mr Atkins, Chagford

Mr Atkins lives in a detached bungalow in Chagford, a small town on the outskirts of Newton Abbott. The bungalow has a 52 square meter East facing roof with an inclination of 35° degrees, making Solar PV a viable investment.

Here at Enlighten Systems we quoted and installed a 3.5kWp system with 14 Sanyo HIT panels and an SMA Sunny Boy 3000 TL inverter.

We estimate that based on National Government SAP calculations this system will generate 2,427.6kWh of electricity per annum with a further 1,378.88kg of CO² emissions being reduced on a yearly basis. However, due to higher irradiation factors in the South West this system should in reality exceed National Averages. Mr Atkins system should generate £1,088 annually through tax free Feed-in-Tariff payments, at a rate of 43.3p per kWh generated. Another £146.00 will be saved through electricity costs, while £16.32 can be earned through selling excess energy back to the national grid each year. As a result, Mr Atkins can expect an index linked income and savings figure of £1250.32 per annum for 25 years, resulting in a return on investment period of 9 years and generating a profit of £27,833.25.
